Lost wax glass casting,

Irrespective of belief, background or current circumstances we can be sure that we were all children once, navigating our way through an unfamiliar world. This body of work explores this precious and at times precarious phase of life.

By taking casts from found objects along her travels, I transform and re-contextualise them, allowing the derelict and discarded to re-enter the world anew.

This process of ‘rebirth’ through reconfiguration transforms negative memories into positive expressions of survival.

Bumps and crashes, blows and smashes are all necessary misadventures in this body of work. My intention is to express and generate a sense of playful whimsy whilst maintaining a slight undertone of unease, suspended somewhere between reality and nostalgia.

ANOTHER AUSTRIAN WINTER is a personal reflection on my earliest years of life and development in Europe. Through the use of a variety of materials I have wanted to instill both a curiosity and a feeling of displacement and dislocation in the viewer.

The Suitcase, a recurring theme in my practice, was used as a visual metaphor to represent a sense of displacement, uncertainty & upheaval. The threat to identity when nothing around you is familiar.

Trough the use of tangible objects of the past, my intention is to reconnect not only to my memory of the past, but to reconnect to a part of myself long since packed away but not forgotten
